I loved learning about the connection between Saint Edburga and Saint Boniface. Fascinating!

Thank you Esmée - yes, it is fascinating how connected many of these saints were. In my head they all existed in isolation, but of course that isn’t right!

The early medieval period is so interesting, and so many admirable people to learn about :)

Saint Edburga was new to me. Thanks for sharing. What a sweet life. A good reminder to plug away with our simple lives and be faithful in the small things God asks of us.

Even in the medieval period she was overshadowed by St Mildred but I loved learning about her life and quiet faithfulness.

Have you been to Minster Abbey? We love the sisters there!

I haven’t! Kent is somewhere I’ve never visited, it feels so far away from Devon somehow. But I love that Minster Abbey is once again home to a religious community.

Thanks for this essay — I was just reading that there were double monasteries in the Asturias region of northern Spain around this same time.

Thank you Maria. Wow that’s fascinating, maybe it wasn’t a purely Anglo-Saxon phenomenon then. Will have to see if I can find out a bit more, thanks for sharing.
